Family members in Caribbean citizenship programmes

Which family members can join a Caribbean citizenship application in 2026: spouses, children, parents and siblings in Antigua, Dominica, Grenada and St Kitts.

For many families, the question is not only which Caribbean programme to choose but who can come along. The four programmes we follow in the region all allow a spouse and young children, but their rules on adult children, parents and siblings differ more than the headline prices suggest. Those differences can change both the total cost and whether a single application can cover the whole household.

The wider comparison of costs and the European Commission’s 2026 request to phase the programmes out are covered in our overview of Caribbean citizenship by investment and the EU deadline. This article concentrates on family composition, using the definitions published by each citizenship unit as of October 2026.

Key takeaways

  • All four programmes include a spouse, children under 18 and adult children with a disability who are supported by the main applicant.
  • Antigua and Grenada accept financially dependent children up to 30, while St Kitts and Dominica require older children to be in full-time education.
  • The parent age threshold is 55 in St Kitts and Antigua and over 65 in Dominica, and Grenada prices younger parents separately.
  • Antigua and Grenada accept unmarried siblings, and Grenada charges US$75,000 per sibling on its main routes.
  • Every dependant above the age threshold pays due diligence fees and, in most programmes, an interview fee.

A side-by-side view

The table summarises the main categories of dependant in each programme.

The detail behind each column is set out below. Definitions are drawn from each unit’s published guidance or regulations and can change.

St Kitts and Nevis

The Citizenship by Investment Unit lists a spouse, children under 18, children aged 18 to 30 in full-time attendance at a recognised secondary or tertiary institution and fully supported by the main applicant, children aged 18 or over with a physical or mental disability, and parents of the main applicant or spouse aged 55 or over who live with and are fully supported by the main applicant.

On the Sustainable Island State Contribution, the base price of US$250,000 covers up to four people, with US$25,000 for each additional dependant under 18 and US$50,000 for each additional dependant aged 18 or over. The full set of St Kitts routes is described in our article on St Kitts and Nevis investment options.

Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua’s dependant rules are the broadest of the four. The CIU accepts children aged up to 30 who are financially dependent, adult children with a disability, parents or grandparents of the main applicant or spouse aged 55 or over who are dependent, and unmarried siblings of the main applicant or spouse.

Antigua also allows a future spouse to be added for US$50,000, and publishes fees for adding children born after citizenship. These later additions carry standard due diligence and passport fees as well.

Where a household spans three generations, the choice of programme often turns on these definitions; our Antigua and Barbuda citizenship page explains how a family application is put together.

Dominica

Dominica’s 2024 amendment regulations define dependants as a spouse, children under 18, children aged 18 to 30 enrolled in a recognised institution of higher learning and fully supported by the main applicant, children aged 18 or over with a physical or mental disability, and parents or grandparents over 65 who are substantially supported by the main applicant. The 2024 definition does not include siblings.

Pricing on the Economic Diversification Fund rises from US$250,000 for a main applicant and up to three dependants, with US$25,000 for each additional dependant under 18 and US$40,000 for each additional dependant aged 18 or over. More detail is in our guide to Dominica citizenship costs and process.

Grenada

Grenada’s legislation, as amended in 2019, allows dependent children under 30, adult children with a disability, dependent parents and grandparents, and adult siblings who are unmarried and have no children. On the National Transformation Fund, the US$235,000 base covers up to four people, but parents and grandparents aged 55 or under and siblings sit outside that base. IMA Grenada lists US$25,000 or US$50,000 for additional dependants depending on category, and US$75,000 for each sibling.

Grenada’s due diligence fee applies from the age of 17. Recent compliance changes, including the attestation on discounts, are covered in our article on Grenada’s programme review and costs.

Practical points for families

A dependant’s age is generally assessed at the date the application is submitted, so a child approaching 18 or 30 can change both eligibility and cost. Supporting evidence matters as much as the relationship itself. Units typically expect proof of financial dependency, such as bank transfers or tuition payments, and proof of enrolment for older children in education.

Every person above the relevant age threshold also goes through due diligence, which adds to the cost and to the documents needed. How this works is explained in our guide to due diligence in Caribbean citizenship by investment.
